Related tools
Convert HEIC photos from an iPhone or iPad to standard JPG right in your browser. Unlike most converters, nothing is uploaded — the photo is decoded on your device with WebAssembly, so it stays private and works even offline. Drop up to 50 photos at once and download them all as a ZIP.
Why iPhone photos are HEIC files
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default. HEIC files are about half the size of an equivalent JPG at the same quality, which saves storage on your phone. The catch: Windows, older Android phones, many websites, and most upload forms don't accept them. Converting to JPG makes the photo work everywhere.
Stop your iPhone from shooting HEIC
If you'd rather never convert again, switch the camera to JPG: open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. Photos will be larger, but every device can open them. Existing HEIC photos stay HEIC — convert those here.
How this converter is different
- No upload. Most HEIC converters send your photos to a server. This one decodes them on your device with WebAssembly — private by design, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
- Batch conversion. Drop up to 50 photos at once and grab them all as a single ZIP.
- No limits, no sign-up, no watermark.
Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the High Efficiency Image Container format iPhones use by default since iOS 11. It stores photos at about half the size of JPG, but many apps, websites, and Windows PCs can’t open it.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your photos never leave your device.
Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?
JPG is a lossy format, so there is a small technical loss, but at 90% quality it is invisible. You can raise the quality slider to 100% for the closest match.
How do I make my iPhone take JPG photos instead?
Open Settings → Camera → Formats and select Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG; existing HEIC photos still need converting.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG?
Yes — switch the output format to PNG. PNG is lossless but produces much larger files than JPG.
