Choose standard WAV for editing and mastering, or the phone-system preset (8 kHz, 16-bit, mono PCM) that 3CX, Asterisk, and most VoIP systems require for prompts and hold music.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert MP3 to WAV for 3CX or another VoIP phone system?

Choose the "Phone system" preset before converting. It outputs exactly what 3CX, Asterisk, FreePBX, and most VoIP platforms require for prompts and music on hold: WAV, PCM, 8 kHz sample rate, 16-bit, mono. No extra settings needed.

Can I convert other formats than MP3 to WAV?

Yes — the converter accepts M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, FLAC, WMA, and AIFF too, and turns any of them into a standard WAV file.

Why convert MP3 to WAV?

WAV is uncompressed, so it’s the preferred format for audio editing, mastering, phone-system prompts, and software that needs raw PCM input.

Will the WAV sound better than the MP3?

No — converting can’t recover detail the MP3 already discarded. It simply stores the audio without further lossy compression.

Why is the WAV file so much larger?

WAV stores uncompressed audio, so files are roughly ten times the size of the equivalent MP3. The 8 kHz mono phone preset is much smaller than CD-quality WAV.

Is it free and private?

Yes — it’s free with no sign-up, and conversion runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly. Your audio is never uploaded to a server.
